Adelaide's oldest fencing club. Established 1936
Adelaide Swords Club, founded in 1936, is one of South Australia's oldest sporting clubs. It has produced Olympians, World Championship medallists and State and National Champions.
The club welcomes people of all abilities—from beginners and casual fencers who like to keep their minds and bodies fit to athletes who compete at the highest level. It holds training sessions on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6.30pm, beginner and intermediate classes for kids on Saturday mornings, and adult courses at various times during the year.
The club on Tynte Street is a large, clean, bright, air-conditioned space in the North Adelaide Primary School gym. It is close to North Adelaide's busy cafe and restaurant strips on O'Connell and Melbourne Streets. Its central location with on-site parking, proximity to public transport and major arterial roads make it a short trip from anywhere in Adelaide.
The club has eight pistes and uniforms, masks and weapons are available to use at no extra cost for members making fencing an easy sport to take up at any age.

Long-time fencers who stopped fencing for some reason, or relative beginners who started and stopped, if you have fenced before, we would like to help you get back into the sport. Take a look around the website, find out about membership and come in and see the club in action when we're open on Mondays or Wednesday nights.

Adelaide Swords Club
Learn about the exciting sport of fencing in our beginner epee course. Each week, participants will master fundamental fencing techniques, footwork, and the etiquette of this historic sport.
Congratulations also to Georgina Barratt for representing Australia in Senior Women’s foil in the 2025 Asian Fencing Championships where she came 48th. Good luck also to Georgie who is currently training in Europe before competing in the FIE World Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia later this month.
